Are your employees are often on the road and in hotels? Then share the following practical advice on how to work healthier when travelling with them. The tips were published on EHS Today, a website focused on occupation health and safety.
-
If you are traveling with a suitcase, get a suitcase on four wheels. You will need less power and keep your wrists in a neutral position, not twisted behind your trunk when pulling the suitcase.
-
If you have a laptop with you, do not carry it in a bag with one strap but in a backpack or at least put it on your suitcase to relieve the pressure on your shoulders and neck.
-
In the hotel room, do not place your luggage on the floor to unpacked your belongings. Minimize bending by placing your suitcase on the bed, chair, etc.
-
If the chair you have at the hotel is not adjustable, adjust it to the correct position using the things around you - such as pillows and armrests.
-
If you work on a tablet, take a keyboard with you to write longer texts.
-
If the hotel has its own business center, take advantage of it. With a large monitor and a classic keyboard you will work more comfortably and faster.
-
Inquire if you can borrow an ergonomic notebook pad (lap desk) in the hotel.
-
Alternate sitting and standing. After a long work session, go for a walk or visit the hotel bar where you can stand.
-
Use a desk or USB lamp to gain enough light for your work.
-
Pack an extension power strip so that you have enough outlets for all your devices. To save space, pack retractable laptop and phone chargers, too.
