In recent years, modern technology has played an important role in effective talent management. From the HR perspective, 2014 will be the year of using modern technologies in the processes of people acquisition and development. The four most anticipated trends were summarized by the British Training Zone server.
1. Mobile technology
The younger generation commonly uses the internet in smart phones or tablets. So in the following year, we can expect a large number of cloud-based technologies aimed at users of mobile technologies. In HR, this will include primarily making the recruitment process more mobile-friendly.
2. Bring your own device
BYOD ("bring your own device") describes the trend where more and more employees bring their own mobile phones, tablets or computers to work. Companies are reacting by implementing strategies for the use of these devices ,paying particular attention to the protection of data and sensitive information. In 2014, HR will become more involved in these strategies. It will look for ways to use the employees own devices to support their engagement and productivity.
3. Big data
In the last year, the so-called big data has caught a lot of attention in the business world. "Big data" means data of such a large volume and complexity that it is very difficult to process. HR will focus on how to combine all available employee data and utilize it for effective decision making and operation of their companies. You can read more about big data in HR in our previous articles called Potential of "Big Data" analysis in HR and Prepare for the big data revolution in HR.
4. Remote working
Most companies view the possibility of remote working as an advantage for both themselves and their employees. In the UK, for example, 2014 will give all employees the right to request flexible work hours. An increased demand for cloud-based solutions is expected that will enable employees to communicate and collaborate remotely. It will become more common for employees to connect to corporate networks remotely and work in the online environment.
