Every candidate tries to give the best possible impression during an interview. There is nothing unusual in candidates hiding their failures, being vague about topics they would rather not talk about, or tactically exaggerating their successes. It is the task of the recruiter to find out during the interview whether the candidate is being less than frank and the reality is slightly different than they claim.
