Three out of five (57%) job ads on the Czech labour portal Profesia.cz include the requirement to speak English. Candidates are most often required to master English actively. That is why young people with good language skills have better chances to find a job. Up to 43% of ads containing the requirement of knowing English require active knowledge of the language. Pre—intermediate is the second most commonly required level of English in the ads.

Last year, companies put the highest emphasis on the knowledge of English when looking for people to work in IT (three of the four ads), customer support, pharmaceutics, translation and interpreting and Human Resources.
