Large companies commonly use social networks for recruitment. Their HR departments, inspired by their colleagues from marketing, are primarily using LinkedIn to find interesting talent. The trend of recruiting via Twitter is growing rapidly as well, Entrepereneur.com reported. Even this social network is a great place for finding and screening potential employees. The biggest advantages of Twitter for the employer are:
1. You can approach your fans
Traditional job boards let you approach a large number of people actively looking for work. However, when you publish a job offer on Twitter, you reach people who are already interested in your business even if they currently have a job.
2. You can ask for a "retweet"
"Retweeting" on Twitter works as easily as "liking" on Facebook. If you politely ask your community for a retweet, you will probably not be rejected. But be sure, your tweet with a job offer includes interesting and relevant content.
3. You can learn more than on LinkedIn
The information people share about themselves on Twitter is somewhere in between the too personal information on Facebook and the polished professional information on LinkedIn. You can learn more about their personality and interests and you will even not have to read anything long. As it is well known, tweets are only 140 characters long.
Do you have experience with using Twitter for recruitment? We would like to read them in your comments.
