Talent management is one of the strongest trends in the current world of personnel management. Many organizations, however, still do not know how to evaluate the effectiveness of talent management practices, how to determine their capacities and develop a detailed plan of managing talent in their ranks. Talent Management described four steps to create a road map of talent management processes in an organization.
1. Evaluate the current state of talent management strategy in your organization
Start by reaching heads of departments or divisions with the question of what talent management processes they have defined and how these processes are actually followed in practice.
2. Compare the level of talent management in your organization to best and worst practices
Evaluate processes and methodologies being used in your organization. If you do not have formalized or centralized procedures, you do not measure the success of your talent management and your corporate culture do not actively support talent management, you are right at the beginning.
3. Identify priorities within talent management processes
Prioritize the processes according to importance and expected impact on improving business results of the organization. Measure difference between the current and the expected state. Connect to senior managers.
4. Build detailed implementation plan of talent management
After examining the current situation and priorities, you should come up with a strategic plan. Follow a three-stage model: 1) build a framework of important criteria, 2) define a time schedule and 3) communicate the strategy to the top management.
