Returning from vacation is challenging. Most people, therefore, do not expected themselves to be sufficiently productive on the first day back at work. How can you catch your pace when a lot of tasks have accumulated during the time of your vacation? Practical tips for the first day back from vacation were published by CBS Money Watch.
1. Come an hour early
Even if you still would like to sleep longer, gather your strength and get up earlier. When you come to the office an hour earlier than the others, you will be able to go through your e-mail and prepare a list of tasks for the day in peace.
2. Talk with your colleagues
When your colleagues come, talk with the key people in your team about whether some further urgent events you have not learned about so far by e-mail or telephone occured. It will save you a lot of time in deciding what to start with.
3. Start with small tasks
The first hours after returning from vacation are not good to start large long-term projects. Rather start with smaller things and let the big task for tomorrow.
4. Carefully choose really urgent things
Each of your colleagues or customers can come to you with an urgent request. Identify, therefore, which of these appeals are really priorities and focus your attention on those. When something "urgent" could wait during your vacation, it can surely wait another day or two.
