Senior management's communication with employees as a talent management tool

There are many techniques for increasing employee engagement. One of the most effective techniques - improving personal communication between senior management and employees - is, however, often neglected. The Talent Management website, therefore, brought five recommendations to improve this kind of internal communication. Managers responsible for internal communication and talent development should lead their superiors to the following activities:

1. Contact

Especially in challenging times, people have a natural tendency to become engaged. Senior leaders should therefore not remain isolated but promote common ideas and goals. They should lead both managers and employees by personal example.

2. Provide space for meetings

Management should ensure their people a platform for meeting, sharing best practices and mutual learning. Senior leaders should go among employees and obtain their trust based on personal communication.

3. Be personal

Employees do not pay so much attention to reports distributed by the internal communication department as they do to personal communication from above. They want to hear information from the mouth of their managers and get to know the leaders more personally.

4. Involve modern technology

Electronic communication has significantly increased senior manager's potential to communicate with employees. Invest in a simple web-based platform.

5. Constant challenge your senior managers

Challenge them to take responsibility for employee engagement and ensure conditions for them to be able to easily communicate with employees throughout the whole year.
