10 steps to start corporate mentoring program

Introduction of a corporate mentoring program seems like a very challenging task, which is also the most common reason why companies do not implement mentoring programs. Isn't  it a shame? Server Training Magazine summed up ten steps to start successful mentoring program.

  1. Connect mentoring program objectives with the objectives of your organization in the field of HR.

  2. Find a senior manager who will support the program, participate in it and set an example to others.

  3. Do not worry about the budget. A smaller program can start with paper or electronic profiles, e-mail and spreadsheet.

  4. Define program participants. Start with a small pilot.

  5. Define program structure - formal, informal or both.

  6. Connect with mentors with mentees. Give mentees as much freedom as possible in selecting mentors.

  7. Find the right mentors. They can be nominated by managers, asked for voluntary participation or become part of management development plans.

  8. Publish program through as many internal channels as possible.

  9. Start the program when you have enough mentors to choose from.

  10. Measure results and collect feedback from participants.
