Each coach works his own style but the work should always be based on a coaching plan. Putting the coaching plan together assumes that you know at least the basic planning rules such as setting the SMART goals. You should also remember the following three things that were published on the International Coach Federation (ICF) website.
Build your plan around the problem being solved
Be sure not to plan on the basis of the results you want to achieve. Focus on a specific problem that your coachee wants to deal with. You need to find out why he/she has this problem.
Create your own coaching plan template
It's up to you how the template will look like. You should, however, apply it to all your clients. Set aside a space for 1) goals, 2) the problem, and 3) the cause of the problem. Your coachees will then be able to clearly see what you are working on together.
When creating the plan, apply your personal coaching style
Your coaching plan should reflect not only the personality of your typical client, but also your personally. You can achieve this the best by adapting your coaching plan according to your needs.
